THE QUICK ANSWER

Record the error, check the publisher source and installed version, then test one change at a time. If only screen-off playback fails, go directly to background settings. Avoid clearing app data or uninstalling as the first step.

Start with the symptom

YMusic not installing

  1. Check the file. Use the publisher source and wait for a complete APK download. Delete a partial download and retrieve it again. Do not rename an HTML or XAPK file to APK.
  2. Check storage. Installation needs working space beyond the compressed file size. Free space without deleting files you still need.
  3. Check the app opening the file. Install permission belongs to that browser or file manager on newer Android versions. See how to install YMusic on Android.
  4. Check identity and compatibility. Android version, package conflicts, signing rules and a device’s architecture can affect installation. The checked file’s native libraries are listed on the homepage; other publisher variants have not been inspected.
  5. Read any security or policy block. Keep Play Protect enabled. A managed device or regional developer-verification rule may restrict sideloading. Do not bypass a harmful-app warning.

If an existing installation blocks an update, follow the update guide before uninstalling it. Clearing installer data is not a universal solution.

Content unavailable or playback error

An unavailable item or HTTP 403 error can have several causes. Compare one other item and the original service before treating the failure as an app-wide outage.

  1. Try another item that is available to you. A private, removed, age-restricted or region-restricted item may fail independently of the app.
  2. Open the same item in YouTube’s own app or website. If it also fails there, start with that service’s availability or account requirements.
  3. If it works there but fails in YMusic, record the exact message and check the publisher update source.
  4. Close and reopen YMusic, then restart the phone if the failure persists. Test again before changing a second setting.

An HTTP 403 means access was refused; the code alone does not say whether the cause is the account, request, network or service. Repeated reinstallations will not necessarily fix a service-side change. If a current publisher build still fails, wait for publisher guidance or use the original service.

No connection or repeated buffering

Open a normal webpage first. If other apps also fail, fix the device’s connection. Complete any Wi-Fi sign-in page, then compare a trusted Wi-Fi connection with mobile data if your plan allows it.

Check whether Android has restricted YMusic’s mobile or background data. A VPN, filtering DNS service or network policy may also change access. If you intentionally use such a tool, compare a normal permitted connection without removing its configuration. Restore your preferred settings after the check.

If only YMusic fails on both connections, a connection error may be the app’s broad label for a content or service problem. Continue with the playback checks above. Do not assume switching DNS or creating a new Google account is a proven fix.

A download or conversion does not finish

Find out whether the completed file exists before changing app permissions. Check its actual folder, extension and byte size. A download-list entry can remain even when the physical file is incomplete, moved or gone.

If the file plays from a file manager but is absent from YMusic’s Library, check the selected library folder and its access grant. If it is visible in YMusic but missing from another player, that player’s media access and indexing need a separate check.

The publisher’s V4.0.12 notes include fixes for a pre-existing download folder appearing empty before a rescan and for Opus/Ogg/OGA Library imports. The missing-download guide explains how to distinguish these cases without assuming a rescan recovers a deleted file.

If only one offered format fails, compare another permitted item and an offered alternative format. Read the MP3, M4A and Opus guide before converting a large library. Keep original files until the replacement plays in your intended player.

Keep a useful problem record

Record your phone model, Android version, YMusic version, original download URL, exact error, whether a second item works, and whether it fails on Wi-Fi and mobile data. Redact your account name, private URLs and tokens from screenshots.

Clearing cache may remove temporary files; clearing storage/data can remove settings, sign-in state and private files. Back up before a reset and understand what Android says will be deleted. A device-specific support request with one clear symptom is more useful than trying several destructive fixes at once.
