For an existing V4 installation, compare the version with the publisher release, back up important files and use the matching update. If you are moving from V3, keep the old app until the music and playlists you need work in V4.
Find out what is installed
Record the version from YMusic’s About information, if available, or Android Settings → Apps → YMusic. The inspected V4.0.12 file uses io.ymusic.android. The older V3.9.23 file used com.kapp.youtube.final.
Android treats those package names as different applications. A V4 installation does not establish that V3’s private settings, account state or playlist database transferred. Use the V3-to-V4 migration guide for that change.
The current release record separates the public version from the internal version code. V4.0.12 reports version code 16. The older V3 filename used code 4498; those digits were not a version called 4.4.98.
Prepare before changing the installation
Copy completed audio files you can access to another folder or backup location. Note the current download folder and any library folders you added. App-private data and shared music files have different lifetimes, so keep the old installation until you know where important items are stored.
The publisher’s V4.0.9 notes describe playlist backup/restore and Android MediaStore playlist import. That does not prove that every V3 playlist export is compatible or that a playlist backup includes the audio files. Check the backup and the actual music separately.
If a folder is present but its songs are absent from the Library, follow the folder-access and missing-download checks before downloading everything again.
Install the publisher update
Read the publisher release
Open the publisher website and its linked GitHub release. The checked release is 4.0.12, published 24 October 2026. Check for a later release when you update.
Choose the matching build
Use an architecture your device supports. The ARM64 file record on this site does not apply to the publisher’s ARMv7, x86 or x86_64 files. Keep ordinary V4 updates on the publisher’s release route.
Read the update prompt
For a matching V4 package, follow the APK installation sequence without first removing the app. If Android offers a separate installation instead of Update, recheck the generation and package before proceeding.
Verify the result
Check the installed version after completion. Try foreground playback, background playback and access to your existing files separately. Revoke temporary install permission when finished.
When Android rejects the update
A package-name conflict, incompatible signing lineage, lower version code or damaged file can cause an update to fail. Android’s app-signing documentation explains that update certificates are compared with the installed app’s certificates; supported key rotation has additional rules.
Return to the source used for the installed app and compare its identity. A certificate subject such as a developer name is not enough to establish trust: compare the fingerprint and validate the signature with appropriate tools.
Only consider removing the app after you understand the conflict and have backed up what you can. Uninstalling can remove settings and private data, and a reinstall is not guaranteed to recover them. See the installation troubleshooting checklist.
If the update installs but playback fails
Installation and content playback are separate. A server-side change can affect playback even when Android accepts the APK. Check a second item and compare playback with the original service before changing more settings.
Use the playback diagnosis sequence. For a screen-off-only problem, recheck background battery and data access. Record which behavior changed so that another update can be evaluated against the same test.
YMusic old versions: 3.9.11 versus 3.9.23
V3 and V4 are separate generations. This site retains the V3.9.23 file observation as historical evidence, while its main download record now covers V4.0.12. The older V3 hash, certificate and Android 5.0 minimum must not be applied to V4.
Searches for “YMusic 3.9.11” refer to an older build. Its publisher file and signing history were not verified in this project, so this site does not offer it as a download. A third-party archive entry alone does not establish a safe rollback path.
Before replacing a working installation with an older build, back up accessible music and consider whether the failure is caused by a source-service change. A lower version may fail Android’s downgrade rules and may not understand newer app data. The generation-change checklist covers what to preserve.
